The Fountain

The fountain is located in Forsyth Park right in the middle of historic downtown Savannah Georgia. Forsyth Park is one of the largest parks occupying some thirty acres of prime historic real-estate. One thing you may or may not notice in Savannah is the fencing and light poles in the parks and squares are a very dark green not black, its called Savannah Green. Each year thousand of tourists take tens of thousands of pictures and hundreds of brides and grooms have their pictures taken at the fountain. There are dozens of weddings that take place each year at or in view of the fountain also. During the school year many of Savannah College of Art and Design or better known as SCAD students hone their skills drawing, photographing and shooting videos around the fountain. I always enjoy meeting and talking with the SCAD students because they always have some very interesting stories and I can learn so much from these very talented students.

Currently there is some side walk repair taking place so I caught a glimpse of a JCB tractor at work. JCB has its North American headquarters located in Savannah and has about four hundred employees building some of the world’s best light to heavy equipment from backhoes to excavators.

The Fountain was created in 1858 and received extensive restoration in 1988. For a full description of the fountain please visit the City of Savannah website about The Fountain it is well worth the read.

Hard Heads

Starting shooting this in the winter of 2009 and finished it in early spring. Not sure what is the hardest their heads or their peckers. One of my most favorite of all birds, Woodpeckers. Enjoy!
