One of Them

It’s my favorite time of the year fall and the time when all the festivals are taking place. So thought I would do something fun for Halloween like grab my camera and spend some time in a graveyard. Had fun shooting this one but it was a job directing those one thousands ants to do what needed to be done for the final shot. I could have spent more time in post with color grading and lighting but was running out of time.
I do not promote Halloween as being a scary thing but letting your children dress up as their favorite fun television or movie characters and taking them to a fall festival at a local church or something along those lines. Never door to door unless you personally know the family and then inspect their candy before they eat it. My family and I went to a very nice church festival and it was a blast watching the kids dressed up like dogs, cats, lady bugs, butterflies, policemen, firemen, Snow White, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie, Barbie and many of the other cartoon characters. You could tell that the Toy Story trilogy by Disney Pixar was a big hit with the kids. Get out and enjoy your kids before they are all grown up and gone.

Tybee Tip 2 Tip

With hurricane Julia passing several hundred miles off the coast of Tybee, it helped create some great surfing. It was about four days later I decided to throw the video camera into the car and head down to the beach. The surfers were still stoked about the waves they were riding high on from Julia, but this day they were a good bit smaller. For more information on surfing at Tybee visit the High Tide Surf Shop website and follow them on Twitter @hightidesurf. Kayaking is at its best on and around Tybee Island too. Visit Sea Kayak Georgia and line up a fun day in a kayak.
This is the hardest shoot I have done, looking into the sun for several hours, trying to focus on moving water and people. Man I end up with a soft focus on good day and objects standing still. Shooting HD video is not forgiving at all when it comes to a good sharp focus. You better be spot on. I have a lot more respect for guys shooting outdoor sporting events.
The fall of the year between September and November to me is the prettiest time of the year to enjoy Tybee Beach. The tourists have slowed down, along with the heat too, and the fishing is at its best. Got to see the Tybee Ocean Rescue Lifeguards getting all pumped up for another lifesaving day on the beach with a good game of volleyball. You may notice that they are playing in the same spot that was used in the movie The Last Song starring Miley Cyus. These guys and gals do a great job each year saving lives, taking care of injured people and even dealing with nuts that jump off the Tybee Pier. I just happened to be close to the pier this summer when one decided to take the jump. Needless to say the lifeguards and beach patrol were on it before he could swim to shore. Off to jail with a great big fine in tow. This summer Tybee Island and Hilton Head Island beaches saw a higher than normal amount of jellyfish in the surf. This means an increase of jellyfish stings to those playing and swimming in the surf. But no matter what the problem is, the Tybee Ocean Rescue Lifeguards are on the spot doing a great job for the protection of life and limb of beach goers. Visit the Tybee Island Ocean Rescue website.
